Christmas celebration is over, time to get prepared for the New Year merry-making. If we believe archaeologists, New Year is already celebrated for dozens of centuries. Surely it’s celebrated in different places in different ways: in Egypt, for example, New Year was bond to the bottling of the Nile – and it was vitally important event – the river without the Egyptians could not grow any crops. In ancient Rome, the new first year was also associated with nature – it was celebrated in spring, when everything wakes up from sleep. All this changed with the light hand of Julius Caesar, who established to celebrate the landmark date January the 1-st.
